Our audiology services
At Hearing Sound, we offer a complete range of hearing care services to support you at every stage, from routine hearing tests and earwax removal, through to hearing aids, tinnitus support and custom ear protection. We also work with local businesses to provide industrial hearing screening, helping employers meet their Health and Safety obligations. Whatever your needs, our experienced team are on hand to assess, advise and treat, all under one roof.

Earwax Removal
We provide safe and effective earwax removal using microsuction, a gentle and precise method preferred by most audiologists. Removing troublesome wax can quickly improve your hearing and comfort, and our team will check your ears thoroughly before and after treatment.

Tinnitus
Tinnitus, the perception of ringing, buzzing or other sound with no external source, can affect sleep, concentration and quality of life. We offer consultations to help identify possible causes and talk you through management options, from sound therapy to hearing aids with tinnitus masking features.

Hearing Aids
We offer a wide range of hearing aids from leading manufacturers, fitted and tuned to suit your individual level of hearing loss and lifestyle. From discreet in-ear devices to more powerful options for severe loss, we'll help you find the right fit and provide ongoing support and aftercare.

Custom Protection
Our custom ear protection is moulded precisely to the shape of your ears, offering far better comfort and noise reduction than standard off the shelf options. Ideal for work, music, swimming or sleeping, we'll take impressions and create protection tailored specifically to you.

Hearing Assessments
Our comprehensive hearing tests assess your hearing health and identify any level of hearing loss. Carried out by experienced audiologists using professional equipment, the results are explained clearly so you understand exactly where you stand and what your options are.

Industrial Screening
We provide industrial hearing screening for businesses, helping employers meet Health and Safety regulations regarding hearing surveillance for employees working in noise. Our portable equipment means we can come to you, minimising disruption to your working day.

Helping you understand your hearing Loss
We believe that understanding your hearing loss is the first step to hearing better and being able to communicate more easily. Before making any recommendations we will complete a full hearing assessment and talk you through the results. If you decide to try hearing aids we will use the results of the hearing test to program hearing aids specifically to your loss and perform several tests to ensure they are set up correctly to allow you to hear as well as possible. The process of fitting a hearing aid successfully involves several follow up appointments all of which are included in the cost.

Hearing loss can be catagorised into 3 main types;

-
Sensorineural hearing loss – this is the most common type and is often related to wear and tear/age related loss, it can also be caused by noise damage. It occurs when the hair cells in the inner ear/cochlea become permanently damaged and cannot transmit the sound signals to the brain.
-
Conductive hearing loss – this often occurs when something is blocking the sound such as wax or an ear infection. It is caused by sound waves being blocked as they try to pass through to the ear drum and the bones of the middle ear.
-
Mixed hearing loss – this is when there is a combination of both conductive hearing loss and a sensorineural loss.

FAQ
How do I know which hearing aid will be best for me?

There are several factors that will determine which hearing aid will be the right one for you. They include the nature and severity of your hearing loss, your lifestyle and the activities you regularly enjoy, your job, your eyesight and dexterity, and the size and shape of your outer ear and inner ear canal. Our Audiologist can talk you through all of these options
How much do hearing aids cost?

Our Hearing aids come in a 5 tier pricing system ranging from £1400 to £3,400 (per pair). We also offer a budget friendly option for £900 per pair, this is a more basic hearing aid with no connectivity and less features. Prices are for a pair but if you only need 1 hearing aid prices can be adjusted accordingly. Options include various styles of hearing and rechargeable or battery powered.
