What Clients Say.......

"I would highly recommend this professional service provided to clear my ears of a build up of wax. It was not hurried and completed over 3 appointments at no extra cost.
The insight and information shared with me, helped me to appreciate the importance of ‘ear maintenance’. Afterwards the hearing test confirmed that I need to consider hearing aids, but no pressure was placed on getting them, but an approach to retest in the next two years suggested, to evaluate the hearing loss.
Sarah was very personable and helpful in advising me following the procedures. A 5 star rating from me"

Helping you understand your hearing Loss

We believe that understanding your hearing loss is the first step to hearing better and being able to communicate more easily. Before making any recommendations we will complete a full hearing assessment and talk you through the results. If you decide to try hearing aids we will use the results of the hearing test to program hearing aids specifically to your loss and perform several tests to ensure they are set up correctly to allow you to hear as well as possible. The process of fitting a hearing aid successfully involves several follow up appointments all of which are included in the cost.

Hearing loss can be catagorized into 3 main types;

  • Sensorineural hearing loss – this is the most common type and is often related to wear and tear/age related loss, it can also be caused by noise damage. It occurs when the hair cells in the inner ear/cochlea become permanently damaged and cannot transmit the sound signals to the brain.

  • Conductive hearing loss – this often occurs when something is blocking the sound such as wax or an ear infection.  It is caused by sound waves being blocked as they try to pass through to the ear drum and the bones of the middle ear.

  • Mixed hearing loss – this is when there is a combination of both conductive hearing loss and a sensorineural loss.
